lest” 後面通常接動詞原形（base form），因為它包含了一種虛擬語氣的用法，表達避免某事發生的目的。Lest 是一個稍顯正式或書面的詞，在日常口語中不如 so as not to 或 in case 常用。
She spoke softly, lest she reveal the secret.

I get up early so as to stay healthy. (so as to = in order to)
